kind of gloom that lasts all afternoon...

Hi there. Today is Friday. Thank goodness. Cat is here (which is so exciting) and will be here till Thursday (which is extremely exciting)! I'm a little hungover from Thursday night fun though and this rain has got me down. Counting down till the (work) day's end.

In the meantime, I'm trying to be as productive as possible while jamming to John Mayer's "Why Georgia" - it's perfectly fitting for my mood. It's honestly one of my top two all time favorite songs... the other being "Neon" also by John Mayer. I know, I know. Top two favorite songs by the same artist is quite lame. I can't help it though. I started loving both the first time I saw John live in highschool and haven't stopped since.

Stay dry. Take care.

Britt

cooper river - do over.

Wait. I'm realizing I didn't do my bridge post justice...

First, I didn't mention that I have more pride issues than anyone I know. I must do better than last year - one hour and three minutes.

Secondly, I didn't mention that last year I crashed. After the race ended (which was only about 9:30ish), I died until 3:30ish when my parents woke me for our neighborhood's version of the bridge run. Have you ever been to Edgewater Park? If not, there is a tiny bridge - about 30 ft - and everyone gathers to "run it" around 3:00 p.m that day. Clearly, lots of alcohol is involved and it's wonderful.

Not only am I not prepared, but I have to rise to the occasion - my parents are throwing their own bash starting at 1:00 p.m. This is bad. Real bad. Michael Jackson.

You would think I would be heading to the gym or running right about now.... No, the red wine got me.

Xoxo,
Britt

cooper river

Yesterday, I realized the Cooper River Bridge Run (10K = 6.2 miles) was in exactly 20 days. I also realized that I had conveniently skipped out on my exercise routine for the past two to three weeks. So yesterday, I ran* the bridge.

Today, I am writing to you with tired muscles that barely got out of bed. This week is going to be a busy week - somehow I must find the balance between work, speed training for the bridge run, and preparing for Cat's visit (YAYYY).

Let's see how this goes...

Happy Monday to you - well wishes for this week,
B

*ran: I ran half. I walked half. This was on purpose so I didn't kill myself the first go-round. I won't pretend that it wasn't also so I could walk away with my pride still in tact - "I could have definitely run the whole thing."

spring cleaning

Today was great. Not as warm here in Charleston as I'd hoped (55ish), but the cold wind slipped perfectly into Unit 3 as spring cleaning began.

The whole idea of spring cleaning is refreshing my Lenten promise. Why? Because this journey hasn't felt like a journey at all. It's been easy - so easy that I'm not even thinking about it.

Feeling odd at moment:
...a little off from too much fun last night (tequila....insert shudder) and all of the chemicals I inhaled today
...a little high from a Saturday full of productivity and the killer dinner I made.

Ta Ta for Tonight,
Britt

P.S. I must tell you now. I can't wait. Cat McGintee (one of my roommates from Clemson/bestttt friends) just booked a flight to arrive in Charleston on Wednesday. I'm freaking outttttttt. :) YESSSSSSSS!

Friday, March 5, 2010

hello goodbye.

It's a little after 5:00 p.m. on a Friday. I wish you knew how excited I am. I'm quickly posting for two reasons:

One: It's March - ekkkkkk last post was in February. I'm realizing this is harder to keep up than I thought.
Two: I'm promising to post tomorrow and I always keep my promises.

Off to join in on the French Quarter Art Walk!

Au revoir!
Britton

P.S. Inspired by the quick post, I thought I'd leave you with my favorite hellogoodbye song...."In Your Arms." Sending love to my Clemson girls :) xoxo
